IDDSI Labels now in use by Textured Concept Foods

TCF is pleased to advise that all our products now carry labeling in line with the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation requirements.

Australia will formally adopt the IDDSI standards from May 1st 2019, but you can already get used to the new easy-reference labeling when using Textured Concept Foods now.

TCF produces food products that are categorised Pureed, Minced Moist or Moderately Thick/ Liquidised. They are numbered and colour-co-ordinated:

Pureed (4)- Green,

Minced Moist (5)– Orange

and Moderately Thick /Liquidised (3)- Yellow.

Since 2013, the global body IDDSI  has been working  on a standardized, global way of naming & describing texture modified foods & thickened liquids for individuals with dysphagia of all ages, in all care settings, and all cultures. For further information about the IDDSI standards visit


Textured Concept Foods’ New Production Kitchen

TCF is delighted to now be established in our brand new, super-sized Production Kitchen in Campbellfield,Victoria. We are delighted to be settled in our new home, working hard to ensure all with dysphagia can nutritionally dine with dignity.

Implementation of International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation (IDDSI)

Textured Concept Foods is pleased to be assisting the Australian working group of IDDSI – preparing Australia for the implementation of International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation. Currently the Australian Texture Modified Food Industry is in the “Prepare” phase of implementation, involving product testing and label development. Full scale adoption of the new standards and rollout is due 1 May 2019.

Healthcare catering challenge solved by Telstra Business Finalist

Textured Concept Foods have been recognised as Victorian Finalists at the Telstra Small Business Awards 2017.

TCF have helped hospitals and aged care homes across Australia dramatically improve the dining experience of people on texture modified diets.

Celebrating the Telstra Business Awards, Textured Concept Foods was noted for its innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and community-mindedness.

Typically, people with swallowing difficulties have had to endure bowls of unrecognizable mush for their every daily meal. TCF produce pureed items which are reshaped to resemble the actual foods that they are. This ensures every meal is a recognisable, dignified offering; which positively impacts patients’ interest in mealtime, the quantity they eat, and ultimately their overall health.

Provision of puree and mince moist meals has been a longstanding bugbear for the Healthcare industry. Up to 60% of aged care residents, as well as accident victims, patients with throat and mouth cancers, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and other conditions require meals of an altered texture. Inhouse production of these meals is often plagued by issues of incorrect consistency, dilution of recipes and nutritional content, and patients’ inability to identify what is served. Successful production of these meals typically requires special equipment, dedicated time and significant expertise; all additional pressures in busy healthcare kitchens.

Since its inception four years ago, Textured Concept Foods has succeeded in developing a commercial viable solution to this longstanding problem. TCF’s pre-prepared, shaped, texture modified food items mean kitchens can simply “plate, thaw, heat and serve” ensuring an appropriate, attractive, nutritious meal can be provided to those who need it. It’s a fairly simple solution, but its taken significant ingenuity to make it possible.

Its Textured Concept Foods’ hope that unsightly, unappetizing texture modified meals should soon be relegated to healthcare catering history.
